OUR FIRST PROJECT
The first project in which Ensemble42 came together was the benefit concert Troost, which took place on December 15th 2023, in collaboration with the church Vrijburg. Fifty-four professional singers, string players, and amateur singers came together under the direction of Hebe de Champeaux in order to raise money for the children of Gaza, who were suffering under relentless bombardment from Operation Swords of Iron. A total of six-thousand eight hundred and eleven euros were raised within a period of only two weeks for this cause, which was distributed between Save the Children and UNICEF. It was because of the huge success of this project that enough momentum was reached to officially establish Ensemble42.
Children, especially in war situations, are physically and mentally traumatized when the support network around them disintegrates. It is with not only direct aid in the form of food, clean water, sanitation, and medicine that they can be helped, but also in the form of cultural outreach programs to give them a sense of worth, a method of intellectual and emotional development, and a boost in mental health. We are grateful to UNICEF and Save the Children that they continue to work in the afflicted areas despite the extreme conditions, and are proud that we were able to contribute.
