The Night is a fascinating phenomenon that has influenced mankind in starkly different ways, inciting the contrasting notions of terror and comfort, warmth and icy cold, nightmares and pleasant dreams. It is a time and place of seduction and loneliness, safety and danger. The darkness provides a blanket of seclusion, and at other times we seek to make its hungry fingers flee by flooding it with light.
This program seeks out the dichotomy of the Night and our Dreams. With beautiful compositions of old classics such as Rheinberger’s Abendlied, to the tapestries of exciting new sounds by Eriks Ešenvalds in the New Moon, this program will envelop the mind with the sensuality, darkness, and yet, comfort of the night.
